International Yoga Day – 2020
‘Your mind lives in your body. Work towards making it a healthy home.’
Every year celebrated on 21st June, International Yoga Day aims to spread awareness worldwide about the benefits of yoga in daily life. Sant Nirankari Public School , Nirankari Colony celebrated the momentous day virtually for fitness, immunity, mindfulness and relaxation. In sync with the theme of 2020 ‘ Yoga at Home Yoga with Family’ the day commenced with an online yoga session for staff and management mentored by Sh. Dwarka Nath Ji, a renowned yoga trainer with Bhartiya Yog Sansthan. In an endeavor to revisit the normal yoga practice in school, a special session for classes V and VI was conducted to practice standing and sitting asanas followed by Om chanting. Importance and relevance of each asana was explained and students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed thoroughly. The celebration concluded with an online yoga session organized by SNCF reiterating the critical role yoga can play in today’s challenging times. Students of classes VI to IX displayed their artistic talent in poster making and slogan writing activity wherein using art they highlighted the importance of yoga. An international video blogging contest was also organized by The Ministry of AYUSH (MoA) and the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), wherein around 50 students of classes VI to X showcased their astounding yoga postures and uploaded their videos.
